This week Room 1 read the story 'The Snail and the Whale' by Julia Donaldson and we loved the story of how the snail wanted to explore the world and did so on the tail of the whale. We also enjoyed how the snail was a hero when the great grey-blue humpback whale got stranded on the beach.
We then decided to do a little bit of exploring ourselves and went outside to measure how long a humpback whale grows to...
16 meters in fact!!! Incredible!!!
That's 13 Room 1 students!
We also drew how long a snail is.. about 2cm and the length of Vann's big toe :)
That is one great big grey-blue humpback whale and one tiny snail.
This is a great photo Room 1. How incredible that the whale is that long!!
