Maths with blocks
Room 1 has been learning about place value and practising our 'teens' and 'tys'. We are getting very good at it and Mrs McGregor is super impressed with how well we use the blocks to show numbers.
Seasons!
For the past 2 weeks Room 1 has been learning about seasons. We have worked together to brainstorm what we know and then used these ideas for our writing. Everyday we looked at a different season and then we wrote about it. Later in the day we worked on our art for that season. We had lots of fun learning about the seasons and their differences. Keep reading to see some of our amazing stories and our incredible artwork!

Book week!
Next week is book week and it is a super duper fun week that is dedicated to super incredible, adventurous, stupendous books!!
Room 1 will be doing some secret things this week to prepare ourselves and our classroom for the adventures we will go on next week.
On Tuesday morning (30th June) there will be a Book Parade and students are to come to school dressed as a character from their favourite book or another book character that they like. We will stay dressed as our characters all day and even Mrs Preggo McGregor will be dressing up.
Would you like a clue about what she might be?
Well lets just say she goes to visit Grandma and has a run in with a wolf!! Can you guess who she will be?
If you are confused just look for the lady in red and all will be revealed :D
Can you think of a better way to finish off this fantastic term of learning?!
Bring on book week!

Super Star Readers!
Room 1 are super star readers!!
We are all reading at different levels and focusing on different things but Mrs McGregor is super impressed with how well we are all progressing and how much we enjoy reading time. We focus so well, give each other thinking time and help one another when we are stuck. We are also working hard at looking after our books and treating them well.
Good job Room 1, you are reading super stars :)
The Snail and the Whale
This week Room 1 read the story 'The Snail and the Whale' by Julia Donaldson and we loved the story of how the snail wanted to explore the world and did so on the tail of the whale. We also enjoyed how the snail was a hero when the great grey-blue humpback whale got stranded on the beach.
We then decided to do a little bit of exploring ourselves and went outside to measure how long a humpback whale grows to...
16 meters in fact!!! Incredible!!!
That's 13 Room 1 students!
We also drew how long a snail is.. about 2cm and the length of Vann's big toe :)
That is one great big grey-blue humpback whale and one tiny snail.
Room 1 Assembly
Room 1 is hosting Pinehill School assembly this Tuesday the 16th of June. We have being practising our performance and are so excited for the whole school to see how hard we have been working. Assembly starts at 1:30 and we would love for any Room 1 parents to come and watch us if you are able :)
