Squash Take 2!

Today we had our second squash lesson and we loved every second of it. Manu taught us all how to hold a racquet properly and we practised playing squash with a partner.

We played Catch Squash which is just playing squash with our hands and no racquet. This was really fun and got us all
warmed up to try the real thing!

Another thing we learnt was that the name Squash comes from the squash ball being 'Squashy'. And on a side note -the more you hit the ball the hotter it will become and the more it will bounce!

All good tips thanks Manu!

Squash has begun!

This week Room 1 had their first squash lesson with Manu our instructor. We learnt what squash is and what skills we need to have to play this fantastic sport. First we had to warm up. Then we practised bouncing and catching the ball (working on our hand eye coordination) and finally we got to hold a racquet and tried to hit the ball. We did so well and after another 3 lessons we are going to be pros!

Room 1 has been looking at the letter d and what a fantastic letter it is!

We decided to make our d art our Valentine's Day art for our family. We worked over 3 days to paint, glitter and stick everything to make our 'You are DINO-MITE' pictures and they look fantastic!

Curly Caterpillars and Odd Octopi!

This term Room 1 students will be learning the Barbara Brann Magic Caterpillar shapes that will help them to easily form their letters for handwriting.  For some Room 1 students this will all be new work and for other we are refreshing our memories from last year.  In week 1 we looked at the letters C and O.

C - open mouth - Curly Caterpillars

We came up with lots of words that started with 'c' and then we worked with Mrs McGregor and Mrs Anderson to create our own curly caterpillars.  Don't they look fantastic?!
