100 days!

Room 1 had their hundredth day at school on Monday and so today we had a party to celebrate!!

We have been counting everyday and we have been counting down to this moment :)

Doing our 100 days every day has helped us learn our numbers to 100 and to skip count in 2s, 5s and 10s. It has helped us learn to bundle objects and how many 10s are in 100 amongst many other things. 

Today for our party we all tried to bring 100 of something from our home. We had all sorts of things from rice and beans to tooth picks and Lego. We got into groups and counted our 100 objects and then worked together to put them into groups of 10! 

Afterwards we had some treats and relaxed after all of our hard work. 

Room 1 are number superstars! 

Room 1's Little Friends

This term Room 1 has some little friends that have come to help us with our writing. They are little baby animals that have their own little home and love to work with us and see our amazing progress. 

Our Littles don't like a lot of noise though so we have to make sure that when they come to visit us we are lovely and quiet and focused on our work while our Littles watch  :) 

We have enjoyed naming our Littles and have even let them visit our friends to see the amazing writing they are doing too! 

We love our Littles and have been producing some incredible stories since they became our buddies :) 

Cross country!

For the first 4 weeks of the term we will be practising for cross country before the event in week 4. We practise every day just before morning tea and we are loving it! 

We look forward to seeing you at the main event supporting and cheering us on as we run as fast as our little legs can carry us :)

 

Alex the author and illustrator!

Our Alex wrote his own book at home called 'The Dragon and the Knight'. He wrote the whole thing himself and even illustrated it. Have a look at his incredible work!

Maths with blocks

Room 1 has been learning about place value and practising our 'teens' and 'tys'.  We are getting very good at it and Mrs McGregor is super impressed with how well we use the blocks to show numbers.

Seasons!

For the past 2 weeks Room 1 has been learning about seasons.  We have worked together to brainstorm what we know and then used these ideas for our writing.  Everyday we looked at a different season and then we wrote about it.  Later in the day we worked on our art for that season.  We had lots of fun learning about the seasons and their differences.  Keep reading to see some of our amazing stories and our incredible artwork!
